Earlybirds - prepare for tax season

Our team at TS Accountant want to make sure you are prepared to file your taxes. This means early prep work to avoid a delay in getting a refund next year.

There is a lot of paperwork involved, but don’t worry we’ve got you covered!

Here is a checklist from H & R Block that you can download to make sure you have all of your forms: click here

Don’t worry about getting all of your forms now - they usually arrive by mail in January.

When you do get them - make sure they’re all correct, and if not, contact the payer right away to make a change.

To get ahead of the game, confirm that each employer, bank or other payer has a current mailing address.

According to the IRS, taxpayers should keep a copy of their 2016 tax return and all of their supporting papers for a minimum of three years. This way, it will make it easier to fill out a 2017 return next year.

If it’s your first time using a software product for the first time, you may need the Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) amount from your 2016 return to properly e-file your 2017 return.
